Josh Gad
OO National Champion 99
The following oratory stands out as both thoughtful and quite funny. I want you to watch it with a special focus on both delivery and his use of humor. Answer the following questions:
How does Josh make this funny? Give examples. (ie. the use of contrast, sarcasm, vocal expression, facials, pop culture references, oratory references, human nature observations etc.)
What does Josh do in terms of delivery that make him stand out? Consider his conversational tone, pitch, volume, facials, commitments. movement, gesture, pace etc.)
Identify his thesis. Explain what makes it unique?
Be prepared to discuss these answers with the group.

MINNEAPPLE PARENT WORKER SIGNUP
We still have numerous families who have not signed up yet and we still have 39 slots to fill. Each shift is approximately 2 hours in length so we hope each of you can find a couple of hours to spare next weekend to help us with this effort. All parents are expected to help by signing up for at least one slot per student on the Speech & Debate Team.
For those of you who have already signed up – if you have the capacity to add another shift to your schedule we would be very grateful.
We desperately need volunteers during meal times – Friday (shifts between 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm) at all four schools and Saturday (shifts between 11:30 pm – 1:30 pm).
We have over 1,000 people to feed during each of these mealtimes and we can’t do it without you.

Judge Availability Form
If you haven't done this yet, please take a moment to fill out the following judge availability information available online.
Here are some additional resources for judging.
Lincoln Douglas Debate (This was made for a different tournament but it offers a fairly good overview. Note, the video says that the tournament will provide someone to time the round for you. This is not the case in Minnesota. Either the students are asked to time themselves, or the judge will time-- and give time signals-- for the students.)
Public Forum General Overview(6 minutes)
Public Forum Time / Structure (5 minutes)
Here is what a good ballot looks like.
